Have you ever wondered who is behind the voices that call your bingo numbers? Well one UK bingo player wrote in to Starlight Bingo and said that she thought she recognized the bingo callers in our 90 ball bingo hall. So we thought we would show
you the faces behind the voices, the real bingo callers, and let them tell you a little about themselves. Remember, when playing Starlight Bingo, you can select to choose between male or female bingo caller in the software options, and change any time you like.
Steve Moone
Steve is our male 90 ball bingo caller. He has a long and successful professional musical / showbiz background spanning back to 1972 when he first turned professional. He was then performing as part of a duo with Loz Marriott (The Marriott Brothers) in Jersey Channel Islands, when they were talent spotted by Musical Director Geoff Walker.
Steve never looked back and his musical career spanned the next few decades, and included singing backing vocals on some of ‘The Drifters’ hit records, as well as appearing on the front covers of many pop magazines as a ‘teen pin-up’. Steve has worked alongside many famous names, such as Roy Orbison, Sacha Distel, Tommy Cooper, Diana Dors, Blue Mink, Roy Castle and Roger Whittaker, to name but a few.
In 1976, he met and fell in love with the beautiful Sheila Fontaine. Herself a successful professional singer, Sheila is also our lady 90 ball bingo caller (see more about Sheila below) Steve married Sheila in 1978, and by 1982 they had formed a professional musical duo called ‘Rendezvous’.
Moving to Cyprus in 1993, where they now both have Cypriot Citizenship, and after suffering serious illness, Steve’s life is a little less out of the spotlight, although not entirely, for he hosts karaoke nights at Jonny’s Pub in Limassol, several nights a week, along with Sheila, and still has a powerful voice that brings the crowds in.
When asked ‘What message would you give to fellow Brits in the UK who play bingo online?’ Steve replied “Good luck, have a ball, and win LOADS!” Steve’s personal motto in life is; “Live everyday as if it’s your last, because time stands still for no-one. Life is such a precious gift, so enjoy every beautiful day you are given.”
Sheila
Sheila, who is our female 90 ball bingo caller, has had a very successful career as a professional singer. She started her solo career in 1966 in the Isle of Man, and moved to the UK mainland. She has performed with famous names such as David Nixon, Tommy Cooper, The Bachelors, to name but a few, as well as appearing on many UK television shows and soaps, such as Coronation Street and Brookside.
After meeting and falling in love with Steve, our male 90 ball bingo caller, they formed a musical duo called ‘Rendezvous’. They saw much success, appearing at many prestigious venues throughout the UK and abroad, as well as appearing on many UK TV shows, including Central TV’s hugely popular ‘Saturday Royal’ show, hosted by Lionel Blair.
Having moved to Cyprus in 1993, Sheila is always kept busy with styling and designing their new home, and of course hosting the karaoke nights with Steve, where on occasions one is lucky enough to get to hear the divine sound of Sheila singing too.
When asked ‘What message would you give to fellow Brits in the UK who play online bingo?’ Sheila’s reply was “Eyes down, look in, and enjoy playing Online Bingo with us. Good Luck!” Sheila’s personal motto in life is; “If you enjoy doing something today, do it. Then you can always do it again tomorrow!!!”
